Group coaching is something many people don't know exists, yet it can be a powerful, accessible and effective tool with some real advantages over one-to-one coaching. It can be used with individuals or within an organisation, and there are benefits to both. Here are a few of them.
Benefits for the individual
- Peer learning: being around people with similar experiences can help you recognise how to make changes, and legitimise your own difficult experiences.
- Group support: some people feel more comfortable with group support than being put on the spot one-to-one, and it builds a sense of accountability for your own development.
- Lower cost: group coaching is significantly cheaper than one-to-one sessions, a good way to try coaching before committing to it individually.
Benefits for the organisation
- Scalability: for large organisations, one-to-one coaching for everyone often isn't logistically possible, group coaching is.
- Effectiveness: peers learn together, spreading growth and culture change across teams and departments.
- Accountability: encourages persistent development over time.
- Lower cost: far more affordable and sustainable at scale than individual coaching for every member of staff.
DH Consulting provides both one-to-one and group coaching, for private individuals and organisations.
