Psychometric & 360 assessments

A good assessment should tell you something you didn't already know, or put a number on something you suspected but couldn't quite prove. The report is only half of it, though. The real value comes from the conversation afterwards, when we work out what the results mean for you, your team and the decisions in front of you. That's why every assessment I run comes with a debrief with me, not just a PDF in your inbox.

Psychometric assessments

I'm an accredited practitioner for two well-validated measures from AQR International, the UK publisher behind some of the most widely used leadership and mental toughness tools in the world. Each takes around 15 minutes to complete online.

ILM72: leadership style and effectiveness

Developed with the Institute of Leadership & Management after a study of more than fifty leadership models, the ILM72 shows how someone actually leads, which is often quite different from how they think they lead. It looks at six aspects of style, such as whether you focus more on the task or the person, how much you hand over rather than keep hold of, and whether you care more about how things get done or about the result. It also measures three core behaviours of effective leaders: determination to deliver, engaging with individuals and engaging with teams. There's no right or wrong profile; the point is knowing when your natural style helps and when it gets in the way.

MTQ Plus: how you respond to pressure

The MTQ Plus measures how someone responds to pressure, challenge and change, across four areas: Control, Commitment, Challenge and Confidence. It's particularly useful for people in demanding roles, during periods of growth or upheaval, and for anyone who suspects they've been coping rather than thriving. Used before and after coaching or a programme, it also gives you a clear measure of what has shifted.

Bespoke 360 feedback

Off-the-shelf 360s tend to measure generic competencies that have little to do with how your business actually works. I design each 360 around what matters in your organisation, whether that's your values, a leadership framework or the specific behaviours a role needs. I write the questions, run the process confidentially so people feel able to be honest, analyse the results and write the report, then go through it with each leader in a debrief. A 360 works particularly well alongside the ILM72, because you see a leader's own view of their style next to how the people around them experience it.

For individuals and for organisations

For individual leaders

Assessments can be part of 1:1 coaching or a standalone piece of work with a full debrief. They're a useful starting point for a new role, a promotion, a difficult patch or simply a moment when you want an honest picture of where you are.

For teams and organisations

Across a group, the results become a picture of how leadership really works in your business, which is one of the clearest reads on culture you can get. I use assessments in culture diagnostics, leadership programmes and high-potential development, and to measure the difference a programme has made over time.

How it works

  1. A short call to understand what's going on and which assessments, if any, will genuinely help.

  2. Participants complete their assessments online, and for a 360, I gather feedback from their colleagues.

  3. I analyse the results and write up what matters, rather than leaving people to interpret a long report alone.

  4. A personal debrief with each participant, plus a summary for the organisation where that has been agreed.

How results are shared is always agreed upfront with both the individual and the organisation, and handled in line with my obligations as an HCPC-registered practitioner.

Fees are tailored to the number of participants and the assessments involved. Get in touch for a proposal.
