Advisory

The War Room

A psychologist in the room when the people stakes are high.

Most war rooms deal with crises in communications, operations or deals. This one deals with the human side: the leader whose behaviour is damaging the business, the restructure that is losing people it needs to keep, or the top team that can no longer make decisions together. In a short, focused engagement we diagnose what is really happening, test the options and leave with a plan you can act on straight away.

For HR Directors, Heads of People and L&D leaders

You are often the person expected to fix a problem you didn't create, with limited authority and very little time. The War Room gives you an independent expert view and a plan you can take to the board with confidence.

Typical situations

  • A senior leader with toxic, high-conflict or Dark Triad behaviours
  • A restructure, merger or change programme that is losing momentum or talent
  • A sudden rise in burnout, absence or attrition in a key team
  • A grievance or complaint involving someone at executive level

For CEOs and the C-Suite

At the top, the hardest decisions are usually about people, and they are rarely ones you can talk through freely inside the organisation. The War Room gives you confidential space to pressure-test your thinking before you commit.

Typical situations

  • A decision about whether to keep, move or exit a senior leader
  • A leadership team that is divided or failing to perform
  • Succession planning, or your first 90 days in a new role
  • Leading through a crisis while keeping the organisation steady

How it works

01

Diagnostic call

A confidential conversation to understand the situation, the people involved and what a good outcome looks like.

02

The War Room

A focused half-day or full-day session, in person or online, working through the evidence, the psychology and your options.

03

Action plan

A written summary of the recommended approach, risks and next steps, delivered within 48 hours.

04

30-day follow-up

A check-in to review progress and adjust the plan as things develop.

All four stages are included in the fee.

Retained Advisory

For HR leaders and executives who want ongoing access to a psychologist's perspective, retained advisory provides regular sessions plus on-call support for people decisions as they arise, including senior hires, exits, succession, team dynamics and difficult conversations. Many of my clients have worked with me for years, and this is the arrangement that supports that kind of partnership.
